Mika Zibanejad broke a tie with a power-play goal late in the third period, and the New York Rangers defeated the brand new Jersey Devils 5-3 at Prudential Center on Sunday. Zibanejad scored on a wrist shot from the high slot at 17:00 to give the Rangers a 4-3 lead. New York (23-16-6), 5-0-1 in its past six games, swept a four-game series to finish the season 6-2-0 against New Jersey. The Rangers went 2-for-6 on the power play and have scored nine goals with the man-advantage in their past nine games.
The Devils (14-24-6) rallied from down 3-0 to tie it on goals by Mikhail sports logo patches Maltsev, Marian Studenic and Nico Hischier but lost their sixth video NFL Helmet iron on stickers game in a row, all in regulation. Alexis Lafreniere scored on a backhand from the slot after using his right skate to kick the puck to his stick, giving the Rangers a 3-0 lead at 5:17 of the next period. Maltsev scored on a backhand from the slot to customized stickers decals pull the Devils within 3-1 in 18:55. Studenic scored his initial NHL goal to make it 3-2 at 1:53 of the 3rd period. Hischier scored to tie it 3-3 on a snap shot from the high slot at 5:30. Ryan Strome scored an empty-net objective at 19:35 for the 5-3 final.
